Shoppers on LTK
When you shop for an item on LTK, you don’t buy that item directly from us; we aren’t a retailer (or a Brand). Instead, links take you from LTK to a Brand’s website where you can buy the item you’re interested in. Sometimes, those links take you through an affiliate network — a platform for retailers — first. If you choose to buy the item, the Creator who referred you receives a commission.
When you click on these links, we do pass along the typical metadata that gets passed along whenever you click on a link on the internet. That way, the Brand knows what item you’re interested in, that you came from LTK, and — most importantly — which of our Creators to credit if you buy the item. But the Brand doesn’t know who you are unless you log in to their site and give them your information.
We don’t sell your personal information to Brands or affiliate networks. All the content on LTK comes from our Creators (or from us). Creators’ posts may be sponsored by third parties, but those posts don’t send your personal information to Brands unless you choose to click on a link. In fact, when you shop on LTK, we don’t sell your personal information to third parties or share your personal information with third parties for their cross-context behavioral advertising, except with respect to some common website cookies.
Creators on LTK
If you’re an LTK Creator, when a shopper clicks on an item in your shop, the link takes them to a Brand’s website, usually through an affiliate network. That link includes a number that helps us identify you so we can pay you your commission on the sale if they make a purchase.
In some states, this constitutes a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, since LTK doesn’t retain control of your information when we share it with Brands or affiliate networks. We aren’t selling your personal information to data brokers; however, please be aware that the way we share your personal information with Brands and affiliate networks may count as a sale.
You have the right to ask us not to sell or share your personal information. However, if you do, that limits the way we can provide services to you. You can still shop using LTK’s platform, links, and tools; however, as a Creator, you will need to agree to the specific kind of sharing of personal information that enables our service to work for you.
That said, Creators can always opt out of our website cookies, just as Shoppers can, by using our cookie tool.
